Meet Twyla
Hi, I'm Twyla and I'm the face behind the Cambridge Quill! I first discovered modern calligraphy during the covid lockdown of 2020. After idly scrolling through instagram videos one evening I happened to come across a video of someone doing modern calligraphy and I was instantly hooked. I just loved how relaxing it looked, and also how incredible the end results could be! After spending the next few weeks watching video after video and researching the best tools to buy, I took the plunge and began practicing modern calligraphy myself. It was the best decision I could have made and I've not looked back since.

Do you do calligraphy for corporate events and functions?
Yes! Just drop me an email and I'd be happy to discuss this with you.
I'm interested in taking one of your Introduction to Modern Calligraphy workshops but I'm worried my handwriting is too messy. Is that a problem?
People often worry that their handwriting is too messy to be able to learn calligraphy. I'll show you during my workshop that (thankfully!) this is utter nonsense, and that no matter what your everyday handwriting looks like, it will have no bearing on what your calligraphy will look like.
Can I learn calligraphy if I'm left handed?
Yes! Calligraphy is suitable for everyone!
Do you use sustainable materials?
Absolutely. Sustainability is really important to me (I also work in biodiversity conservation so I practice what I preach!), so I make sure to use suppliers who share my ethos. All paper and cardstock is FSC certified, card cello bags are compostable and biodegradable, and I do my best to make sure that my packaging is as eco-friendly as possible. If you have any questions (or even better, any suggestions of how I can become more eco-friendly!), please get in touch.
If I want to place a big order for hand written envelopes or place cards, how do I send you all the personalised info?
There's a space on the order page for you to fill in address details/name info etc. - but if you're ordering a lot feel free to send these over to me on email rather than typing them all out again on the order page.
What if I've misspelt something when placing an order?
Responsibility for correct spellings lies with you! I will hand write your product using the info you give me, so please make sure you've double checked spelling. If you've noticed a spelling error after placing an order, please email me as soon as possible at hello@thecambridgequill.com and as long as the item hasn't been made yet, you can change the spelling no problem.
Can you send greeting cards directly to the recipient with a hand written message inside?
Of course! The inside message will have a calligraphy lettered 'header' in the middle (e.g. Happy Birthday!), and the rest of the text will be in be in my regular (but still awesome) hand writing. There's also an option to add a calligraphy lettered envelope for that extra wow factor!
How long will it take to receive my order?
Depending on the quantity of products bought, processing times vary from 1-5 working days, though I will always aim to keep this to a minimum whenever possible! All items are shipped using Royal Mail which generally takes 1-2 days to the UK, 3-5 days to Europe and 5-7 days to the rest of the world. If you would like any more specific info on processing and shipping times, just get in contact with me.
